Lucette

Lauren Gillis, known professionally as Lucette, is a Canadian alternative pop songwriter with a 15-year career defined by evolution, precision in craft, and a deeply individual lyrical voice. Blending confessional storytelling with modern melodic sensibility, her writing moves fluidly
between folk-rooted narratives and contemporary pop structure. Recently signed to Wax Records, she continues to expand her reach as both an artist and a collaborator.

Gillis began her professional career at 19 in Nashville, collaborating with Grammy Award–winning producer Dave Cobb. The experience established a foundation in disciplined, story-first songwriting and set the tone for a career built on creative risk and continual reinvention. Her sophomore album, Deluxe Hotel Room, produced by Sturgill Simpson, marked
a decisive artistic expansion. Rolling Stone praised it as “a bold expansion of Lucette’s melodic sensibilities with arrangements that avoid the rootsy clichés of Americana music.” NPR highlighted her “clean voice with pop vibrato,” noting the introspective depth that defines her songwriting, while Billboard recognized the album’s artistic growth and atmospheric production.

In 2023, Gillis signed with Anthem Entertainment, expanding her international presence through writing trips to Thailand, Japan, Los Angeles, Nashville, and Toronto. These sessions have further developed her versatility as a writer, allowing her to move across genres while
maintaining a clear point of view rooted in emotional honesty, sharp lyricism, and strong melodic instinct.

Her third album, Nice Girl from the Suburbs (2025), produced by Søren Hansen, represents a confident new chapter — sharper, more self-aware, and distinctly modern. Alongside her solo work, Gillis is an active and collaborative co-writer, focused on creating songs that resonate across artists, genres, and global markets.

Fifteen years into her career, Lucette has established herself as a trusted and adaptable songwriter — equally at home in intimate writing rooms and high-level international sessions. Her work reflects a long-term commitment to craft, collaboration, and the enduring impact of a
well-written song.
